Jørgen Bjelke , born on 2 June 1621 , died 17 June 1696 was a Norwegian nobleman , official and officer . He was the son of chancellor Jens Bjelke and brother of General Henry Bjelke and chancellor Ove Bjelke .
Bjelke followed his brother Henry to 1648 when he became sheriff in Norway. In 1657 he became General Commissar of War and conquered Jämtland and Härjedalen . By the King, he was appointed Lieutenant General and designed the 1658 reconquest of Trondheim County 1659-60 and took an honorable part in Halden's defense during the so-called Bjelke feud . After the war was called Bjelke to Denmark , became councilor and more but had little influence. He stood Griffenfeld close, and he would have liked to do Bjelke national commander, but in his case happened even Bjelke in disgrace, was dismissed in 1679. Bjelkes autobiography (to 1670) was published in 1890 by Julius Albert Fridericia .
