Daniel Bolstad Conrad (Jenssen)
1889 - 1946
Son of Charles Jenssen &

Dan B. Conrad, born into a family of artists in Norway,
began painting at a young age. He immigrated to the United States with
two of his brothers and met and married Helen, a young Norwegian teacher,
who had also immigrated to the U.S.
In the 1930's and 40's Dan painted American scenes for the
Brown & Bigelow Calendar company in Saint Paul. Brown & Bigelow
was one of the best printers of the early 20th century, doing many of
the best Maxfield Parrish prints and over 50 years of Norman Rockwell
calendars.
Dan died at the age of 57, from injuries suffered in a fall
from scaffolding while painting murals for a hotel in Eau Claire, WI.
Helen continued raising their four children and was blessed with seventeen
grandchildren.
